Mutiu Sunmonu is the country chair, Shell Companies in Nigeria and Managing Director Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC).
Prior to his appointment on January 1, 2008 as the Managing Director of SPDC and Regional Vice President Production, Mutiu had since February 2006, been SPDC’s Executive Director Production, with overall accountability for the company’s oil and gas production activities and delivery. This included the management of the company’s commitment to its key customers, including NLNG, domestic gas customers, and the refineries, especially against the backdrop of the volatility in SPDC’s operating environment.
On January 1, 2010 Mutiu became the Country Chair, Shell Companies in Nigera, he combines the portfolio with his current role as Managing Director of The Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) and Vice President, Production, Sub-Saharan Africa.
An acknowledged change manager, Mutiu is known to always strive for better ways of doing things, and is effective at mobilising the resources necessary for achieving new initiatives. Among Mutiu’s many other strengths are an uncanny ability to manage processes, people and operational activities to create value for the organisation, as well as a reputation for managing relations with external stakeholders at very senior levels..
